I had a great weekend celebrating my sister-in-laws 21st birthday in Las Vegas. I’m sure compared to most 21st birthdays in Vegas hers was tame, PG, and something I would never be ashamed to tell my kids about.
There were the usual drinks flowing, pretty dresses, half-naked men asking to take a picture with you, and always ending in the wee hours of the morning.
We stayed at the MGM Grand with a view of the pool and the airport. The room was simple (I don’t think your encouraged to stay in it), but the bed was all down and possibly the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever stayed in.
The first night there was her birthday celebration, so we all got dressed up. I wore these cute new heals that at first were very comfortable until you’ve stayed up for 5 hours walking, dancing, and walking some more. I tell you I wanted to cut my feet off. It felt like someone was holding a flame under my feet, it was so painful. I felt ridiculous for having such a silly problem, but it was in fact a problem and if I was going to last the rest of the weekend I needed new shoes.
The next day we woke up sometime in the afternoon and set off for the Premium Outlet Mall. I needed shoes, and the girls needed to visit the Coach outlet. It was a long painful walk on already tired feet but we made it, and the first store I went in I was able to find my size (11) and breathe a sigh of relief.
That night we went to the Cirque du Soleil, KA in the MGM Grand. This show was spectacular. I love live performances of anything, but this was breathtaking. What they have been able to do with the human body is amazing.
Afterward s we went to eat at the Rain Forest Cafe, then we went back to our room. My feet were still burning so I opted to stay in for the night and sleep. We left Sunday and I arrived home to the most beautiful faces I had seen all weekend. It is nice to get away, but I thank the Lord that I am a mom/wife and I get to come home to the best life.
