Today, Fireman, the kids and I will be leaving on our first backpacking trip. I know what your thinking, their crazy, backpacking with two kids under the age of 8! Well I have a theory I must test about kids and backpacking.
1) You are constantly moving while backpacking, so it keeps the kids from getting bored.
2) Your kids are not annoying fellow campers with their hooting and hollering.
3) We live in the mountains, so to get away from people we have to travel into the back country.
4) They are as excited to go backpacking as they were about going to Disneyland.
I might be looking at all of this with rose colored glasses, but if it works out the possibilities are endless.
J has his own backpack for the trip, L has a Camelback we removed the bladder from so she can carry her sleeping pad, and Fireman and I are weighted down with all the rest.
I’ll talk to you when we get back.
Have you backpacked with kids?
