First let me say that I am horrible about planning, and unfortunately my posts of late have been getting out to late, and I apologize. I am going to try a new schedule for posting and hopefully get it published by morning.
Today is Trim Tuesday and I am in week 4 of Precision Nutrition’s Clean Eating program. Today lets talk about exercise. What when and how much?
The when of exercise. Four days a week I do weight training with 2 days of Interval Training. If this seems like a lot you would be correct. Each workout takes about an hour or longer, and while juggling children, life, and the household it does require flexibility. Most days I work out in the afternoon after I put the kids down for a nap, however lately our littlest has decided to make nap time, lets say a challenge. I do need to decide whether I can get up at 5:30 am or sacrifice an hour of my night to exercise. Now that my oldest is no longer taking a nap it seems like I should be spending time with him one on one.
The what of exercise? Monday I do lower body work, Tuesday is upper body, Wednesday is interval training, Thursday is lower body, Friday is upper body, Saturday is interval training, and Sunday is active rest.
For my lower body workout I do a lot of squats, lunges, bur-pees, and mountain climbers. Upper body is a lot of assisted pull ups, push ups, and rows of every kind. My interval training is usually a Beachbody video that lasts at least 40 minutes. My favorite training has always been running but sense my hip fracture last October I’ve been nervous to go that hard. so the videos help keep the impact less.
Like I said this is week 4 of this schedule and I can honestly say I have not lost a pound but I have lost an inch in various parts of my body, and my energy has soared. I can now keep up with my kids after the dreaded 3pm hour, and I’m alert at the end of the night when my husband needs me the most. Next week will start a new round of workouts for the month, so I will keep you posted when things change.
My hope for these posts will be to encourage anyone reading that weight loss is hard, but with the right tools, and support it is very possible. Keep me posted on your progress and you can follow me on twitter.
