I am now 6 weeks into the Precision Nutrition coaching program and I’ve officially have lost 3lbs and a few inches.
I am so excited to see some progress. Yet as I celebrate 3 pounds I know it is hard to live in a culture where speed is everything, and to loose 10 pounds in a first week of “dieting” seems possible. I have really had to change what I read and watch in the media, because it all seems contrary to what I am doing. 3 pounds might not seem like a lot, but in the long run those 3 pounds will never come back.
There are shows (you know which ones) that produce quick results and seem to do it effortlessly. There are commercials and magazine ads for pills, creams, and potions all selling a quick weight loss. If those things were so effective wouldn’t our culture be thinner?
Loosing weight is hard and it never comes on over night, so the idea that you can take it off overnight is simply a lie. I no longer watch that show, and the only magazine I buy is Oxygen. I stick close to the people I know who work hard, and they are the ones who inspire me, not the fast paced culture.
